Artist Statement

"Some Random Stories of the Coincidence" is the juxtaposition of memories towards Japan between the artist (an outsider), an everyday life story telling from a Malaysian who resides in Japan and a Japanese who lived in Malaysia. This film is an abstract representation to connect the fragments of ideas, notion of space and the warp of time between the artists and their Japanese counterparts.

Their stories intertwined through a surrealistic landscape between memory and reality, an architectural mental space which is a common place for both parties, and yet intimate and personal in a certain manner.

The observations manifested through the eyes of the artist as a tourist and an outsider might impose ironies to the local. Re-looking at the norm from different perspectives adding layers of perceptions towards the familiarities, while learning the truth breaks the romantic bubble of imaginations.
